The weather forecast was threatening to make us reschedule their session. Like any other session, typically a 50% chance of rain (or greater) is most likely going to be rescheduled. We kept watching the forecast each day that got closer to the session and then hour-by-hour on the day of. What started as an 80% chance of rain turned into 70% then 60% .. you get the idea. According to radar, it turned out to be NO rain over the time of our session and I’m so thankful that were able to get the session completed!!
One thing that I loved about Jason + Katie was their adventurous personalities – even if that meant katie climbed around a creek and climbed over big rocks in wedged heels. Yeah, she’s amazing. I loved that we were able to do their session in locations that represented adventure and the beautiful outdoor creation! It’s also always so fun to photograph and explore in new locations so this session had an extra layer of excitement!! ;)
Jason and Katie have always cared for each other since they were 17 but the timing never seemed to be appropriate until last summer when Jason asked Katie to finally be his girlfriend. After spending a few months of long distance dating, Katie sent Jason a hand-written letter and ended it with something like “I’ll be waiting and praying”.
On the night that they went to the park where Jason asked Katie to be his girlfriend, he had candles lit and they had a picnic together. As he pulled out her original letter he read out loud a that he had written to Katie on the back of the paper. As the sun was setting, he was finishing up the letter and said “just as you waited for me while I was gone, now I wait for your response,,” and got up onto his knee and proposed. <3
Jason + Katie – what an incredible evening it was to get to know you both better and to explore new places! I cannot WAIT for your mountaintop wedding in October – it’s going to amazing!! xo!
